Legends and Folklore
Middridge’s rich tapestry of legends adds a touch of magic to its history. According to local folklore, the village was once a haven for mischievous fairies. These elusive beings were said to dance on a hill near the village, and those who dared to approach them faced dire consequences. One tale recounts how a young man, emboldened by drink, called out to the fairies, only to be chased by their leader, who pierced the door of Middridge Grange with a javelin—a mark that remained for years as a reminder of the encounter.
